At least four identical helmets must be submitted for every formal certification test (although more are required in some cases). Testing requires that helmets must be tested in each of the following conditions (to simulate climactic extremes):

• Dry, at a normal ambient temperature
• Wet, at a normal ambient temperature
• Dry, at above average temperature (test dependent)
• Dry, at below average temperature (test dependent)

Once preparation is complete, as described on the Test Process page, the tests shown are conducted.
