Penetration Test

This test is designed to test protection from impacts against sharp objects.

• The helmet is placed, on a head-form, under a tall steel tube (see picture, right).
• A 3kg "projectile" is raised to the top of the tube (the height of which is test dependent) and dropped onto the top of the helmet. The steel projectile can be seen, on the floor in front of the helmet, in the picture on the left.

The test is passed if the head-form, inside the helmet, is not contacted by the projectile.
