Flammability Test

This test, which is specific to the Snell SA-2000 standard, verifies that the helmet does not contain flammable materials, thereby increasing the risk of burn injuries.

Each key component of the helmet (i.e. shell, visor, strap and internal padding) is tested by subjecting it to a flame temperature of up to a maximum of 830 degrees celsius, for a time period specified by the Snell Standard.

The test is passed if any flames are extinguished within a time period (again, specified by the Snell Standard) after the flame is removed.
