HPE's Helmet Testing Process
The HPE Helmet Testing process consists of the following activities:
- All helmets are logged into HPE's database and marked accordingly. This is an essential measure which ensures conformance with legal and safety requirements.
- One helmet is marked, as laid down by the appropriate standard, to indicate the impact area (within which the protection standards must be achieved).
- Helmets are prepared for non-ambient testing, over a period of several hours.
- The tests take place as specified on the Test Summary page.
- All data is captured from the test equipment and collated.
- A detailed test report is prepared and despatched to the customer electronically and in hardcopy.
- In the event of a Snell standard pass, the data is submitted to the Snell Memorial Foundation for certification and an untested helmet is despatched for verification.
- Where requested by the manufacturer, the helmets are packaged up and returned for inspection. Note that return postage is not included within HPE's price.
- All other helmets will be destroyed. This may take place at any time after seven days have elapsed from the completion of the test.
- HPE's database is updated to record destruction and/or despatch.
Test samples, other than protective headwear, are recorded and controlled using a similar methodology (taking account of client's individual requirements)
